Stewardship Stewardship teaches that all that we have and all that we are is a gift from God. We are, therefore, stewards of God's gifts during our lifetime. When we accept our lives as sheer gifts, and all that we have as gifts, the Holy Spirit leads us into a faithful response of how we use our gifts (our money, time, passions, and abilities) to grow God’s reign. Two hallmarks of the work of the Holy Spirit are joy and gratitude. As a community of faith, we gather to explore, discern, pray, and nurture one another in becoming joyful and grateful stewards. Practicing and teaching stewardship involves seeking greater insight into spiritual growth, the connection of money and faith, discernment of purpose, leadership, and giving. Greetings Habitat Supporters! The St Stephen's Habitat Team (construction and hospitality jointly) was formally Commissioned by the Rector on Sunday, Oct. 18th, in preparation for the upcoming Interfaith Build at 1009 Carroll Street. If you are interested in participating, please contact either Nancy Barnes (hospitality) or Dean McCumber (construction). The official dedication of the latest Durham Habitat home will be on Sunday, February 21st, starting at 1:00PM. Click Here For more detail see the Herald-Sun article, Click Here . For a map showing the location of the Build site, Click Here . The dilapidated house formerly at this site was "deconstructed" by Habitat to salvage reusable material. A new cement slab was poured and is ready to receive a new 2-story home. The area surrounding the slab is dirt, so sturdy outdoor shoes are advised, especially if there has recently been rain (dirt+rain=mud!). Mud aside, this will be an exciting, worthwhile Build. You will be able to follow our progress under the Habitat entry that will shortly be available with photos, (when available Click Here ). Up-to-date schedules and needs will also be posted there.
