St. Stephen's Concert Series

Since 1982, St. Stephen's has featured some of the very finest musical artists from North Carolina and beyond through the St. Stephen's Concert Series. Originally the principal performance venue for what was then known as the St. Stephen's Chamber Orchestra, the concert series has evolved into an effective means for the parish to contribute to both the cultural and spiritual life of the larger Durham community in a significant way.

St. Stephen's Concert Series receives no direct monies from the parish. If you would like to become a financial contributor, please mail your contribution to: The St. Stephen's Concert Series, 82 Kimberly Drive, Durham, NC 27707.

Music: A Pathway to Worship
“If we have the ears to hear, music is a spiritual language of sounds that
speak a range of human emotions and put us in touch with what
makes us both human and divine.”

How do we enrich St. Stephen’s legacy of music?

Dr. Joe Kitchen, our organist, writes a column for our Sunday Bulletins about the service music.

Read, digest, and take advantage of this feature on Sundays.

St. Stephen’s Concert Series is a vital part of music and worship for the St. Stephen's community.   We have recruited familiar and new musicians for the 2010-2011 series, featuring both instrumental and vocal music.  We hope many of you St. Stephen’s worshippers will become regular attendees of the concerts.

How can you participate in the Concert Series?

Save the Dates for the five concerts and plan to attend both the pre-concert discussion and the concert.

Become a Volunteer.  Assist the Concert Series Board in providing these events for our church and community.

Board members:  Dorothy Kitchen, Marian Tyson, Mary Clyde Bugg, Claire Doerschuck, Cindy Jones, Christie Hitchcock, vestry liason, and Bob Kaynor, rector.

We invite you to learn more about how you can help with the concert series.

Contact Marian Tyson at marianmtyson@gmail.com or call 919.489.7030 to discuss opportunities for service at the concerts.
